Foundation For The Education Of Young Women Names Lynn McBee CEO And Jennifer Shultz CDO

As hinted back in January, energizer fundraiser Lynn McBee has taken on another role. In addition to her “day job” as consultant in the biotechnology industry, she has been appointed the CEO of the Foundation for the Education of Young Women.

If FEYW is new to your list of organizations, it’s been around since 2002 thanks to philanthropists Sally and Lee Posey, who were inspired by “a new single-sex, college preparatory, public school in New York City.” Forming a partnership with the Dallas Independent School District, FEYW opened the Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School in 2004 for 125 girls in the seventh and eighth grades. Located in the Fair Park area, it served 556 girls in the 6^th – 12^th grades for the 2012-2013 school year. The school’s motto is “Girls today. Women tomorrow. Leaders forever.”

And this girls’ school does not focus on home economics and ballet. Rather, it prepares the students to “succeed in all fields, particularly math, science, technology, leadership and wellness.”

The Foundation’s mission has been so successful that similar schools have been opened in Austin, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Houston, Lubbock and San Antonio.

Joining Lynn in the leadership of the Foundation will be Jennifer Shultz, who was just named Chief Development Officer.

According to FEYW Board Chair Gina Betts, “We are so excited to have Lynn McBee as our new CEO. FEYW is poised to open new schools in Texas and then to surrounding states. With Lynn’s great business sense and dedication to providing a college prep education to young women so that they can attend and graduate from college, I have no doubt that we will continue to thrive as an organization. Lynn is the perfect person to continue Sally and Lee Posey’s mission of breaking the cycle of poverty for young women through education.

“Jennifer’s background in the corporate and educational fields, along with her amazing fundraising track record, will help provide the resources the Foundation for the Education of Young Women needs to expand its network to new cities in Texas and beyond.”
